Warmest temperature of 2025 expected in Ottawa today as mild stretch of weather begins

It will be a mild end to February in Ottawa, with five days of above-seasonal temperatures and rain expected today and tomorrow.

The National Capital Commission has closed the Rideau Canal Skateway to skaters due to the mild temperatures in the forecast. The Skateway will be reserved for walking until further notice, “to protect the ice during this warm spell,” according to the NCC.

Environment Canada’s forecast calls for a mainly cloudy day in Ottawa, with periods of rain or snow beginning this afternoon. High 3 C.

The high of 3 C would be the warmest temperature of 2025. The temperature hit 2.1 C on Jan. 18 and 1.9 C on Jan 1.

Periods of rain or drizzle ending this evening then cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of showers or drizzle. Low 2 C.

Tuesday will be cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of showers or drizzle. High 2 C.

Wednesday will see a mix of sun and cloud. High 2 C.

The outlook for Thursday calls for cloudy with a 70 per cent chance of snow. High 1 C.

Friday will be cloudy with a 30 per cent chance of flurries. High -3 C.

The normal temperatures for this time of year are a high of -2 C and a low of -11 C.
