OPP investigating South Stormont stabbing

Ontario Provincial Police are investigating after a 64-year-old man was stabbed southeast of Ottawa last week.

Police say officers responded to a home on Highway 138 in South Stormont Township shortly before 7 p.m. on Jan. 24 to reports that a man had been assaulted with an edged weapon.

Officers found a man had suffered from stab wounds and he was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A 24-year-old woman was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, aggravated assaulted and two counts of breach of recognizance.

The name of the suspect was not released to protect the identity of the victim, as the pair knew each other.

The accused was held in custody following a bail hearing and is scheduled to make another appearance before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
