Kingston Police issue safety alert after pedestrians reportedly shot by airsoft gun

Kingston Police have issued a safety alert after two separate incidents involving pedestrians being shot by an airsoft gun were reported.

In an email, Kingston Police tell CTV News the first shooting occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. at Russell Street and Patrick Street. The second happened at about 12:35 p.m. on Palace Road near Park Street.

The incidents involve a black vehicle, “possibly a Ford,” with four passengers inside.

In both incidents, police say passengers seated in the rear of the vehicle were observed to be firing a “long gun-style” airsoft rifle, or BB gun, at pedestrians.

Kingston Police spokesperson Anthony Colangeni says two victims, one at each location, were struck with projectiles. Their injuries are unclear.

Police are asking residents to be aware and report suspicious behaviour to police. If you believe you see the involved vehicle, do not approach and contact 911 immediately.

Police say the alert will remain in effect until the incident is resolved.
