Eastbound Hwy. 417 onramp at Pinecrest closing for 11.5 weeks starting Saturday

Drivers in Ottawa’s west end will need to take a detour to access the Queensway from Pinecrest Road starting Saturday.

The eastbound onramp from Pinecrest Road southbound will close Saturday for Stage 2 O-Train work.

The city says motorists travelling southbound on Pinecrest Road towards the eastbound Highway 417 are encouraged to use Carling Avenue and travel eastbound to Woodroffe Avenue where they can access eastbound Highway 417.

The onramp is expected to reopen on Tuesday, July 28, the city said.

The Stage 2 west extension of the LRT, which will run to Moodie on one line and Algonquin College on another, is currently slated to be completed in the fall of 2027.

Councillors on the transit committee were told in March that all 36 kilometres of track had been installed, and that installation of the overhead power system was 65 per cent complete, including all 2.9 km in the tunnels on the western extension.

Algonquin Station had also received its occupancy permit, making it the first of 25 permits that need to be obtained.
