61-year-old accused of sexually assaulting child in eastern Ontario

Ontario Provincial Police say an individual in eastern Ontario is facing several serious charges following a sexual assault investigation.

Police were contacted by the Family and Children Services of Lanark, Leeds and Grenville (FCSLLG) on Jan. 28, following a report that a child had been sexually assaulted.

The Leeds County OPP and the FCSLLG conducted a joint investigation.

The 61-year-old accused is facing two counts each of sexual interference, sexual assault on a person under 16 and invitation to sexual touching of a person under 16. This person is to appear in court in Brockville on Feb. 7.

Police did not identify the accused in order to protect the identity of the victim.
