2 stolen vehicles found inside tractor-trailer on Hwy. 401 OnRoute in eastern Ontario, OPP says

A Quebec man is facing charges after police discovered two stolen vehicles in the back of a transport truck on Highway 401 in eastern Ontario.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) says officers checked on a tractor-trailer parked at the OnRoute Trenton on the eastbound Highway 401 in Quinte West just after 2 a.m. Wednesday.

“Officers discovered two stolen vehicles in the sea container on the trailer,” the OPP said on X. “Both had been reported stolen in the GTA.”

Photos posted on social media showed an SUV and a pickup truck.

A 33-year-old man from Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Que. is facing two counts of trafficking property obtained by crime and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

It’s the second time in a week that police have found stolen vehicles in a tractor-trailer along Highway 401.

On Feb. 5, officers with the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) stopped a tractor-trailer hauling a sea container in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 in Cornwall.

Police said the MTO officers called the OPP.

“Inside the sea can they found two high-end vehicles which had been stolen in Toronto in January,” the OPP said.

Photos posted on the OPP social media account show a Lexus and a Land Rover inside the back of the tractor-trailer.

A 61-year-old man from Toronto was charged in connection with that investigation.
