Transport driver, trucking company charged following traffic complaint on Hwy. 11

A commercial motor vehicle driver from Brampton, Ont., and the company he works for have been charged after Ontario Provincial Police responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 11.

The incident took place Jan. 27 at 10:15 a.m. in Temagami, police said in a news release Thursday.

And in an email to CTV News, OPP Const. Martin Thibault said they received complaints that the truck was driving “aggressively, speeding, tailgating and passing unsafely.”

“The officer advised that the CMV was taken out of service because one of the wheels had a crack, greater than three inches in size, making it a major defect,” Thibault said in the email.

“The OPP located the commercial motor vehicle and performed a Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance inspection which resulted in several charges,” police said in the news release.

The company from Brampton was charged with failing to ensure daily inspection is conducted properly, failing to ensure daily inspection report is accurately completed, failing to ensure performance standards are met, defective odometer and failing to comply with certificate conditions.

The vehicle was placed out of service until the required repairs are completed, police added.
