Timmins police investigating shooting

An investigation is underway in Timmins, where police received reports of multiple gunshots fire just after midnight Sunday.

Timmins Police Service says it is investigating multiple reports of gunshots on Saturday night but has given few details.

“Multiple calls were received reporting the sound of gunshots in the area of Pine Street and Sixth Avenue,” Timmins police said in a news release Tuesday.

“In response, officers promptly attended the scene, secured the area and conducted a thorough canvass.”

No word on whether anyone was injured in the shooting.

“The investigation remains ongoing and police are asking anyone with information or footage related to this incident to come forward,” police said.

“If you witnessed anything suspicious or have relevant details, please contact the Timmins Police Service at 705-264-1201 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) to remain anonymous.”
