Timmins police investigate hit-and-run

The Timmins Police Service advised the public Friday of an increased police presence in the area of Maple Street North between Algonquin Boulevard and Fifth Avenue.

“The area in question is currently closed in order to continue an investigation into a hit and run motor vehicle collision that occurred earlier in the day,” police said in a news release May 29.

“Police are asking motorists and pedestrians to avoid the area until the conclusion of the investigation.”

No other details of the incident have been released, but police did say they would advise the public when the area is cleared.
