Sault police seize $172K in drugs, southern Ont. suspects charged

Two people from Kitchener and one from Ottawa have been charged after police in Sault Ste. Marie raided a residence and seized drugs believed to be fentanyl and cocaine worth more than $172,250.

City police were helped by Ontario Provincial Police and Waterloo Regional Police in executing a search warrant June 19 “in the district of Algoma,” said a June 24 news release.

Police found drugs they believe to be 913 grams of fentanyl and 353 grams of cocaine, as well as $3,200 in cash.

The Kitchener suspects, ages 20 and 21, were charged with drug trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime. The 23-year-old from Ottawa was charged with the same offences and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.

All three accused were held in custody pending bail hearings.
