Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit is seeking witnesses to the arrest of a 26-year-old man earlier this week, who was left with serious injuries.

The Timmins Police Service responded to a robbery June 24 around 7:25 p.m. at the Circle K located at the intersection of Algonquin Boulevard West and Cameron Street South.

“Officers arrived in the area and soon after located a person of interest on Cameron Street South, near Belanger Avenue,” the SIU said in a news release June 26.

“In the process of arresting the man, a struggle ensued. The man was transported to the police station. While at the police station, there were further interactions between police and the man. He was lodged in a cell.”

A day later, the man was taken to hospital where he was diagnosed with serious injuries.
