Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Greater Montreal

The Greater Montreal area is under a severe thunderstorm watch, according to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC).

The agency points out that conditions are “favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rain” on Wednesday afternoon and evening.

“When thunder roars, go indoors,” ECCC states. “Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year.”

Heavy rain can cause flash flooding and significant reductions in visibility.

Impact levels are expected to be moderate.
