Hydro-Quebec strikes bolt from its logo to jinx the Lightning

Hydro-Quebec has changed its logo in support of the Montreal Canadiens (and against the Tampa Bay Lighting)

Hydro-Quebec is sending a message to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The NHL hockey team is currently matched up against the Montreal Canadiens in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

The Habs are leading the series 3-2.

Wednesday, the Quebec utility corporation posted a video on social media, editing its iconic logo to remove the lightning bolt from the stylized Q, with the words “POV: You’re modifying your logo to remove the part you don’t like these days” written in French.

“We’ve been advised that part of our logo may be misinterpreted this week. Fixing the shot,” the caption reads.

The post has more than 16,000 likes and nearly 1,000 comments, including one from the Montreal Canadiens that reads “much better!”

The two teams meet next at the Bell Centre on Friday in the best-of-seven series.

The social media team at Hydro-Quebec has a long history of sassy social media stunts.

The bolt will presumably return to the Crown corporation’s logo if (when?) Tampa Bay is eliminated.
