Winter storm watch issued for Sunday

Environment Canada has issued a winter storm watch for Sunday, which is projected to last from early Sunday morning into the evening.

Snowfall accumulations in London and the surrounding areas could exceed 15 cm, with chance of freezing rain in the areas near Lake Erie.

At this time, the exact amount of snow expected isn’t certain, as well as where freezing rain will mix with snow. Residents are advised to remain up to date with the weather forecast before travelling.

Travel may become difficult due to poor visibility in some locations.

Saturday: Cloudy. 60 per cent chance of snow early in the morning. Snow mixed with freezing drizzle beginning in the morning. Snowfall amount 5 to 10 cm. Wind southeast 20 km/h gusting to 40. High minus 2. Wind chill minus 14 in the morning and minus 8 in the afternoon.

Saturday night: Periods of snow mixed with freezing drizzle. Snowfall amount 2 to 4 cm. Wind northeast 30 km/h gusting to 50. Low minus 3. Wind chill near minus 10.

Sunday: Snow. Local blowing snow. Windy. High minus 3.

Monday: Cloudy with 40 per cent chance of flurries. Local blowing snow. Windy. High minus 9.

Tuesday: A mix of sun and cloud with 30 per cent chance of flurries. High minus 8.
