Conditions to deteriorate, freezing rain on the way

CTV London's Julie Atchison has the latest forecast that brings freezing rain.

A northwest wind continues to bring flurries off Lake Huron through Tuesday afternoon.

According to CTV News London Meteorologist Julie Atchison, there will be minimal accumulation, but a bit of a wind chill will carry us through the day.

“You can see the light flurries continuing, a bit of blowing snow as well, especially in through Huron and Perth County. Wind chills feeling like minus 10 to minus 15,” said Atchison.

As we head toward the Bruce Peninsula, the temperature wise will drop down to about minus 10 overnight with wind chills anywhere from minus 12 to minus 15.

Looking ahead to Wednesday morning, Atchison said we will have a cold start, but increasing amounts of cloud cover and Wednesday night conditions deteriorate with the risk for freezing rain overnight into Thursday morning.

“Our next weather system coming in Wednesday night with the chance of freezing rain,” she said. “Overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning, there will be a bit of freezing rain starting around 3 a.m. as we head towards Chatham-Kent and in Elgin County, and then through the early morning hours that’ll be the bulk of the precipitation falling, but freezing rain could lead to some very slick road conditions in the region early Thursday.”

Tuesday: A few flurries ending this afternoon then cloudy with 30 per cent chance of flurries. Wind northwest 30 km/h gusting to 50. Temperature falling to minus 6 this afternoon. Wind chill near minus 14.

Tuesday night: Cloudy with 30 per cent chance of flurries. Wind northwest 20 km/h becoming light this evening. Low minus 10. Wind chill near minus 14.

Wednesday: Mainly cloudy. Wind up to 15 km/h. High minus 3. Wind chill minus 13 in the morning and minus 5 in the afternoon.

Thursday: Periods of freezing rain or rain. High plus 3.

Friday: Sunny. High minus 4.

Saturday: Cloudy with 60 per cent chance of snow. High minus 4.
