Police release new evidence, images in decades long missing persons case

OPP have release new evidence and photos as part of the Lois Hanna case, a Bruce County woman who went missing 38 years ago.

Lois Hanna was last seen leaving a Lucknow dance on July 3, 1988. She hasn’t been seen since.

Despite DNA found and analyzed at the scene, no one has been arrested in the case, which many presume is an unsolved murder investigation.

As the 38-year anniversary of her mysterious disappearance nears, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have released new evidence in a documentary they released on Wednesday.

They say a witness spotted a suspicious vehicle outside of Hanna’s Kincardine home on the night she went missing. It was an older model vehicle, with round headlights.

Police say they haven’t given up on the case, conducting 45 new interviews and two new polygraphs in recent years.

“The OPP is committed to investigating the disappearance of Lois Hanna. We have dedicated resources to this case, and with continued advancements in DNA, we remain hopeful that we will learn what happened to Lois. Thirty-eight years is a long time. We urge anyone with information to please come forward,” said Det. Insp. Phil Hordijk, major case manager with the OPP Criminal Investigation Bureau.

Hanna’s four brothers are still hopeful that who ever hurt their sister will be brought to justice, or at minimum, they find out what happened to her and can properly bury her next to her parents.

“To have someone gone and to not know how they left, where they are, that’s the hard part. At this point in time and to give the family some peace, if we could just have Lois back that would be enough. If we could just go to bed at night and know Lois is with mom and dad, that would be enough,” said Jim Hanna, Lois’s brother.
