Police lay weapons and assault charges against St. Thomas resident

An incident in St. Thomas on Saturday night has resulted in a 20 year old receiving several charges related to an alleged assault with a weapon.

Police say that just after 6:30 p.m. in the city’s south end they were called to a residence where during a confrontation, one person was threatened with a weapon ‘deemed to be dangerous to the public peace.’

Nearby the home, St. Thomas police conducted a high-risk traffic stop, however the weapon was not recovered on his person.

Police searched the home that he had departed from shortly afterward.

The 20 year old now faces charges of uttering threats, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, and two counts of failing to comply with a condition of his probation.
