Weather maker moving through Saturday, with temperatures set to plummet

Today's sunshine is a nice break from the active weather, but according to CTV London Weather Specialist Reta Ismail, you shouldn't get too comfortable.

A cold, icy Friday across midwestern Ontario with wind chills feeling like minus 16 degrees - however, we’ve been absolutely spoiled with sunshine this afternoon.

According to CTV London Weather Specialist Reta Ismail, that’s not expected to stick as we head into the weekend, “we are tracking the next weather maker and it is a low pressure system that is expected to move in tomorrow.”

We are expecting more snowfall to roll through tomorrow afternoon associated with that system, “It is going to be widespread snowfall pretty much from about noon until 10 p.m. for midwestern and southwestern Ontario - and that means we’ll pick up anywhere between two to five centimeters.”

The cold air mass behind the front will bring temperatures in the area plummeting down, with windchills close to minus 20 expected over the weekend.

Here’s a look at the London, Ont. region’s forecast

Friday night: Partly cloudy. 30 per cent chance of flurries early this evening. Wind up to 15 km/h. Low minus 9. Wind chill minus 8 this evening and minus 14 overnight.

Saturday: Becoming cloudy in the morning. Periods of snow beginning in the afternoon. Amount 2 cm. Wind becoming southeast 20 km/h late in the morning. High minus 2. Wind chill minus 14 in the morning and minus 8 in the afternoon

Saturday night: Periods of snow. Amount 2 to 4 cm. Wind southeast 20 km/h becoming light in the evening. Temperature steady near minus 4. Wind chill near minus 9.

Sunday: A mix of sun and cloud with 60 per cent chance of flurries. High minus 1.

Monday: Sunny. High minus 2.

Tuesday: Cloudy with 30 per cent chance of flurries. High minus 3.
