Four suspects charged after brandishing knives on city bus: London police

Four Londoners have been charged after suspects allegedly brandished knives on a bus in the city’s north end.

Four males entered onto a city bus in the area of Richmond Street and Fanshawe Park Road East on Sunday at 3:40 p.m.

Once on the bus, they sat near the back beside two other men.

Police say the four males became involved in an argument with the two men before the suspects brandished knives and threatened the men.

The victims approached the driver who stopped the bus in the area of Windermere Road and Perth Drive.

All four suspects got off the bus and fled the area on foot.

Police were called and provided descriptions of the suspects.

Officers located and arrested all four males a short distance away.

As a result of the investigation a 28-year-old male, 22-year-old male, 21-year-old male and 17-year-old male all of London have been jointly charged with assault with intent to steal.

The 28 and 21-year-old males have been additionally charged with failing to comply with a release order.

The 17-year-old male has been additionally charged with the following offences:

Uttering threats to cause death of bodily harm; and,

Two counts of failing to comply with a release order.

The men cannot be named as doing so could potentially identify the 17-year-old male, who cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The 22-year-old man has been released from custody and scheduled to appear in London court on March 13, in relation to the charge.

The others remain in custody and are scheduled to appear in London court Monday in relation to the charges.
