Arson charges laid against London man after weekend apartment fire

A London man is facing arson charges after an apartment building fire on Wharncliffe Road north over the weekend.

London police say that on Saturday at roughly 7:00 p.m., a fire in the 300-block of Wharncliffe Road north drew an emergency response.

Firefighters put the fire out, and police obtained security footage from the scene which identified a suspect man.

Police say that there were no reported injuries, and damages are estimated to be $20,000.

The suspect was arrested at 2:20 a.m. on Sunday, and faces charges of mischief under $5,000, arson causing property damage, and arson with disregard for human life.
