19-year-old London man arrested after allegedly pointing replica gun at ride-share passenger

A London man is in custody after he allegedly pointed a replica gun at ride-share passenger in another vehicle.

At 1:25 a.m. on Saturday, a male was a passenger in a ride-share vehicle when he observed a motor vehicle in the area of Wharncliffe Road and Horton Street.

The driver of the suspect vehicle was described as driving in a dangerous manner, repeatedly speeding up and slowing the vehicle down directly in front of the ride-share vehicle.

Both vehicles approached the intersection of Wharncliffe and Wonderland roads, where they were stopped at a red light in their direction.

Police say the victim lowered his window, and the driver of the suspect vehicle produced a handgun and pointed it at the victim, uttering threats towards him.

The victim and suspect were not known to each other.

Police were contacted and entered into an investigation.

At approximately 1:50 p.m., the suspect male was located and arrested on Skyline Avenue. A search yielded a replica firearm.

As a result of the investigation, a 19-year-old London man has been charged with the following offences:

-Pointing a firearm;

-Uttering threats of death or bodily harm; and

-Race a motor vehicle.

The accused remains in custody and is expected to appear in London court today in relation to the charges.
