Man facing more than a dozen charges after vehicle windows smashed in Guelph

Police have arrested a Guelph man after more than two dozen vehicles were damaged in downtown Guelph.

The Guelph Police Service began receiving reports about smashed windows around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday. All vehicles were parked in the Cork Street and Yarmouth Street. Investigators believe the suspect was looking for things to steal, but no thefts were reported from the vehicles.

The total estimated damage comes in at more than $13,000.

Blood was found in some of the damaged vehicles.

The suspect was captured on surveillance video and officers located him downtown Wednesday afternoon. The man they arrested had injuries consistent with the evidence found in the vehicles.

A 33-year-old Guelph man has been charged with 26 counts of mischief under $5,000, 26 counts of attempted theft under $5,000, two counts of failing to comply with a bail order and one count of breaching a probation order.
