Guelph man arrested after another man slashed with a knife at downtown business

A Guelph man is facing weapons charges after another man was slashed in downtown Guelph.

An injured man approached Guelph Police Service officers in the Gordon Street and Waterloo Avenue area on Dec. 29, 2024 around 4 a.m. He had two slashes across his abdomen, a cut on his eyebrow and bruising on his face.

The injured man from Kitchener said he had been part of a fight at a downtown business with two other men. He told police one of the other men pulled out a small knife and he was slashed and punched. He was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

On Saturday, police arrested a 29-year-old Guelph man. He has been charged with assault with a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
