Cambridge woman charged in fatal bus crash in Guelph

A Cambridge woman has been charged after a pedestrian was killed during a crash involving a city bus in Guelph.

On Sunday, a 57-year-old woman went to a Guelph Police Service station where she was charged with criminal negligence causing death and careless driving causing death.

Guelph Police confirmed the woman was driving the bus at the time of the collision.

The charges come after a 49-year-old Fergus man was hit by a Guelph Transit bus on Jan. 8 in the Wyndham Street North and Carden Street area.

Members of the Guelph Fire Department extricated the man from underneath the bus, but he was pronounced dead a short time later.

A day after the collision, the City of Guelph confirmed the man who was killed was a city staff member.
