Up to 40 cm of snow expected in parts of southern Ontario this week

Winter isn’t done with us yet.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for most of southern Ontario, warning of another week of potentially heavy snowfall. The agency said a winter storm is expected to blow through the province starting Wednesday and continuing into Thursday.

People living in Waterloo Region could get up to 15 cm or more of snow.

On top of that, there’s an additional risk of freezing rain.

People living just west of the region, including parts of North Perth, could see between 20 to 40 cm of snow.

A low pressure system is being blamed for the winter blast, but meteorologists with the weather service warn it is still too early to know the exact path of the storm.
