Thousands of pounds of steel stolen from Guelph business

Guelph Police Service investigators are looking for multiple suspects after hefty steel slabs were stolen from a business in the city’s south end.

The owner of the business on Southgate Drive called police on Wednesday morning. They said they watched security video from Saturday that showed five men entering the business’ yard around 5:30 p.m. and loading the slabs into a white Mercedes van.

The slabs are approximately five feet long, a foot wide and three inches thick. Each slab weighs around 1,100 pounds. Police believe they are worth more than $5,000.
