Get out your shovels! A snowy weekend weather forecast

If you’re travelling this weekend, you’ll want to check the weather ahead of time. CTV’s Will Aiello has the region’s forecast.

It’s expected to be a very snowy weekend in Waterloo Region and surrounding areas.

Environment Canada advised of heavy snow and low visibility for Saturday afternoon and into the night for much of southwestern Ontario, including Waterloo Region, Brant County, Guelph and Stratford.

The agency estimates the total snowfall will be anywhere between 10 and 15 centimetres for around Waterloo Region and 5 to 10 centimetres for the Brant County area.

Saturday morning will also be a chilly one around the region, feeling like -16 Celsius.

We’ll get a bit of warmup in the afternoon, with a high of -5 Celsius but feeling closer to -9 Celsius.

Overnight, Environment Canada said temperatures could drop to -12 Celsius.

The snow is expected to taper off by Sunday morning, with temperatures reaching a high of -1 Celsius and dropping to -13 Celsius on Sunday night.
