Cables stolen from utility pole in Erin

Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police are looking for whoever is responsible for the theft of copper cables from a utility pole in the Town of Erin.

Investigators first learned of the theft on Wednesday around 9:45 a.m. They were told wires had been taken from a pole on Wellington Road 22 between 6th Line and Trafalgar Road.

Officers determined the wires were cut down Tuesday afternoon around 1:07 p.m. Three copper cables and a fiber cable were taken. Police believe it took the suspects about 30 minutes to cut down the cables.

Approximately 200 customers lost service due to the thefts.

Police are looking for any footage of the area between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
