$20M in cocaine and $2M in cash seized, six Kitchener residents charged

Investigators say a shipment of cocaine from Panama has led to the arrest of six residents from Kitchener, Ont.

Project Golden Frog began in May when a shipment from Panama was intercepted by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA). Inside was what York Regional Police described as “a large quantity of a substance believed to be cocaine.”

It was also linked to a person with ties to Kitchener.

Search warrants were carried out on June 11 at a home and storage locker in the city.

“Investigators seized proceeds of crime, including $2.5 million in cash,” York Regional Police said a media release.

Three people were arrested.

Additional searches were done on June 17 at a residence, business and storage locker in Kitchener. Officers seized an unspecified quantity of a substance, which was believed to be cocaine, as well as cash.

Two people were arrested, followed by another on June 23.

Police said they recovered a total of 260 kilograms of drugs with an estimated street value of $20 million.

Germaine Dunn, 48, and Jeremiah Dunn, 22, were both charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, unlawfully importing a Schedule I substance, conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, and possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000.

Dean Daly, 48, was also charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, unlawfully importing a Schedule I substance, and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

Both Patrick Nkoranyi Kizito, 36, and Abdifatah Abdirahman Omar, 33, were each charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000.

Police also charged Natasha Thomas, 47, with possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000.
