Suspicious fire at Calgary mall under investigation

A fire that broke out at a northeast Calgary strip mall is likely suspicious, officials told CTV News on Moinday. Mason DePatie reports.

Crews are investigating after a fire broke out at a northeast Calgary strip mall, a blaze that officials believe was suspicious in nature.

The Calgary Fire Department was called to the mall, on Rundlehorn Drive N.E., at about 5:30 a.m.

They say it began inside a dry-cleaning business in the mall.

It’s suspicious because witnesses reported seeing several people running away from the area after the fire started, CFD said.

The blaze has been extinguished, but the mall will likely be closed for a while for the investigation, not to mention the fact that some businesses sustained smoke damage.
