Hurricanes fall short in Edmonton, drop 4-3 decision

The Lethbridge Hurricanes fell short Saturday night in Edmonton, dropping a 4-3 decision to the Oil Kings at Rogers Place.

After the Oil Kings opened the scoring on a goal from Adam Jecho in the first, Kooper Gizowski and Brayden Yager scored to send the Hurricanes to the dressing rooms at the first intermission leading by a goal.

In the second, the Oil Kings seized control of the game, scoring three goals from Landon Hanson, Marshall Finnie and Roan Woodward to take a 4-2 lead into the break.

In the third, Gizowski scored his second of the night to make it a one-goal game at 4-3 with over 16 minutes remaining, but the Hurricanes couldn’t notch the equalizer.

Edmonton outshot Lethbridge 31-24.

Next up for Lethbridge is a Monday matinee in Medicine Hat, where they take on the Tigers. Puck drop is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Next up for the Oil Kings is a Family Day game in Red Deer to take on the Rebels.
