Calgary man charged in storage facility break-ins

Calgary police have laid charges in two break-ins at local storage facilities.

The first happened at a storage locker in Mayland Heights on Dec. 23.

“The suspect was allegedly seen leaving the facility with an electric scooter, attempting to balance three boxes filled with unique comic books,” police said in a Friday news release.

Three days later, police were called to a different storage locker in Douglasdale.

Police say the suspect entered the storage facility on a scooter, broke into a locker and then left, returning with a black Chevrolet Malibu with a covered licence plate.

The thief stole large quantity of tools.

Investigators were able to identify a suspect thanks to CCTV footage.

On Jan. 27, police searched a home in the 2000 block of 50 Street S.E, seizing two stolen electric bikes, three boxes of vintage comic books and a large amount of DeWalt and Bosch tools.

Investigators arrested and charged a 46-year-old Calgary man.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 18.
