Calgary boating advisory lifted by fire department

The Calgary Fire Department has lifted a boating advisory originally issued on Sunday.

Officials say flow rates on both the Bow and Elbow rivers have improved, though there is still reduced visibility (turbidity) and the water remains cold.

Despite river activities being allowed again, the fire department is encouraging people to remain on alert.

“A lifted advisory does not remove the need for caution on Calgary’s waterways,” said a Tuesday news release. “Conditions are unpredictable this time of year and can change without warning, such as when we experience sudden thunderstorms that result in rapid, short duration increases in flow.”
