Two motorcyclists seriously injured in unrelated Barrie crashes

Two motorcyclists were seriously injured in separate crashes in Barrie this week, with charges laid against drivers in both incidents.

Crash 1

On Tuesday, around 3:20 p.m. emergency crews responded to a crash at the intersection of Cundles Road East and Livingstone Street East.

Barrie police say a motorcycle and SUV collided, leaving a 19-year-old male rider with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Officers say he was taken to a Barrie hospital for treatment.

Police charged a 45-year-old woman with failing to make a safe turn. The intersection was closed for nearly two hours while officers investigated.

Crash 2

This crash came just one day after a similar incident happened on Harvie Road near Bryne Drive.

On Monday, police responded to a collision involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle. The rider was also taken to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

After that investigation, officers say a woman in her 70s was charged with failing to make a safe turn.

Police continue to remind drivers to watch carefully for motorcyclists, especially during the busy summer riding season.
