Up to 50 cm of snow possible for Barrie

The snow started falling in Barrie on Sunday, the first of up to 50 centimetres that that could fall in the area through Monday according to Environment Canada.

While the effects of Friday’s snowstorm in the Orillia area have mostly settled, Barrie and many other areas around Simcoe County could get more significant snowfall on Sunday.

According to Environment Canada, Barrie could see 20 to 50 centimetres of snow from Sunday afternoon through Monday.

The national weather agency states that conditions could vary considerably, and travel could be hazardous.

Other towns that are under snow squall warnings include Collingwood, Midland and Washago.

Bracebridge, Gravenhurst and Blue Mountains are under snow squall watches with up to 20 centimetres of snow possible.

Orillia lifted its significant weather event declaration on Sunday after Friday’s major snowstorm, but the city and surrounding area is under a snow squall warning again on Sunday.

The townships of Springwater, Oro-Medonte and Tiny lifted their significant weather event declarations on Saturday.
