Townhouse fire extinguished during snowstorm in Barrie

Snow and wind didn't stop Barrie's firefighters from extinguishing a townhouse fire on Duckworth Street Tuesday. (CTV NEWS/Barrie/Steve Mansbridge)

Through a mix of snow, wind and rain, Barrie firefighters extinguished a fire at a Duckworth Street townhouse complex at dinner time Tuesday.

Barrie Fire Deputy Eric MacFadden said they were called to the six-plex near Queen Street at around 5:15 p.m.

There were no injuries and no estimate to the extent of damage suffered in the fire.

Barrie fire and Barrie police services remained on scene after the fire was extinguished.

MacFadden indicated he was going to call the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office to help determine the cause of the fire and if an investigation should be launched.
