Snowy conditions lead to multi-vehicle collision on Highway 11 in Oro-Medonte

Provincial police say whiteout conditions led to a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 11 in Oro-Medonte on Tuesday morning that snarled traffic for hours.

Police say the three-vehicle crash happened just before 10 a.m. in the southbound lanes between Line 4 and Penetanguishene Road.

Emergency crews attended the scene where high winds and blowing snow caused whiteouts and reduced visibility.

The southbound lanes were closed for roughly two hours while the vehicles and roadways were cleared.

Police say minor injuries were reported, and paramedics treated the individuals at the scene.

The highway has since reopened.

Police continue to urge residents to avoid travel where possible.
