Rain to briefly break humidity, thunderstorms possible

A new system is moving across Central Ontario carrying rain and high winds.

Your garden is about to get that much-needed rain it so desperately is seeking.

Meanwhile, you may start to feel some relief from the heat, with wet weather slowly moving into the region.

Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement alerting of up to 50 millimetres of heavy rain.

The rainfall is expected later Tuesday afternoon through to the night for communities including Barrie, Collingwood, Orillia and Owen Sound.

A slow-moving, low-pressure system is making its way over to much of Simcoe County, bringing heavy rain and the risk of isolated thunderstorms.

“Water will likely pool on roads and in low-lying areas,” says Environment Canada.

Motorists are advised to avoid driving on flooded roads and low-lying areas.

The rest of the week has possibilities for showers and thunderstorms as temperatures continue to remain in the high 20s.
