Police search for suspect in alleged armed robbery

A male suspect is at large after an alleged armed robbery in Owen Sound Friday night.

According to the Owen Sound Police Service (OSPS), a man dressed in all black entered a convenience store at around 11 p.m. near the 9th Avenue East and 16th Street East intersection.

Police say he drew a revolver-style handgun, demanding the cashier to give him all the money. The young female cashier reportedly turned the cash over to the suspect, who then fled area on foot according to police.

Officers responded to the store clerk’s ensuing 911 call to investigate along with members of the OSPS forensic identification unit.

Police describe the suspect as a Caucasian male measuring nearly six feet tall with a thin to medium build. He was also reportedly wearing sunglasses and a black mask.

Anyone with surveillance footage or additional information about the incident is asked to contact the OSPS or Crime Stoppers.
