Police call ‘foul play’ after human remains discovered in Thornton earlier this month

Provincial police are now calling it ‘foul play’ after human remains were discovered in Thornton earlier this month.

On Tues., June 2, just before 11:30 a.m., officers were called to a home near 10th Line and 10th Sideroad after a body was found.

A postmortem examination determined that the remains belonged to a woman, although her identity has not yet been confirmed.

Investigators are now asking anyone with additional information to contact them. People can expect to see officers in the area while they continue to collect evidence.

The Nottawasaga OPP Crime Unit is working under the guidance of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in collaboration with the coroner, K9 unit and forensics team.

When the incident first happened, police reported that it was isolated, with no signs of a broader threat to the public. Now, residents are urged by police to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
