Ontario Election: Here’s what to know to cast your ballot early

Voters can cast their ballots starting Thursday, with several advanced polling stations open across the region.

Registered electors will receive their voter information cards in the mail this week with information regarding when and where to vote. Voters need to bring their voter information cards and one piece of photo identification.

"If you do not receive a voter information card, you can still vote, but your name may not be on the voters list. Bring one piece of accepted ID showing your name and current home address," Elections Ontario states.

What to Expect

Voters must be at least 18 years old, a Canadian citizen and an Ontario resident.

When arriving at a voting location, you will need to show photo identification to an election official who will check your name on the voters list. Anyone not on the list will be added after signing a declaration.

The election official will issue the voter a ballot, which you will take behind a screen. Mark your chosen candidate with an X in the circle beside their name, and place the ballot in the ballot box.
