Military training exercise set for Barrie and Owen Sound

Prepare for the sounds of military training in Owen Sound and Barrie this weekend.

Residents in Barrie and Owen Sound may notice military activity in their communities this week as Canadian Armed Forces personnel take part in a training exercise.

The Canadian Special Operations Forces Command (CANSOFCOM), in collaboration with Primary Reserve Force members, will conduct training from Thursday to Sunday at Barrie Armoury and Tommy Holmes, VC Memorial Armoury.

As part of the exercise, military personnel will be carrying personal weapons, and residents near Barrie Armoury may hear noises associated with small arms firing blank ammunition over the weekend. The training will take place during the day, and only blank ammunition will be used.

CANSOFCOM expressed thanks for the community, and local partners, like The Grey and Simcoe Foresters, for their support, emphasizing that such exercises help personnel maintain readiness for real-world operations.
