Mariposa Folk Festival returns for 65th anniversary with star-studded lineup

The Mariposa Folk Festival is set to return to Tudhope Park in Orillia from July 4 to 6, celebrating its 65th anniversary with a star-studded lineup that includes The Sheepdogs, Iron & Wine, and Waxahatchee.

The festival has grown into one of Canada’s most iconic musical gatherings.

“This is a landmark anniversary year, promising amazing performances and unforgettable moments, so don’t delay in purchasing your Mariposa 2025 tickets early to make sure you’re part of this moment in Canadian music history,” said festival president Pam Carter. “Music fans of all ages come to the festival each year to reconnect in this beautiful setting by the lake, creating their own lifetime memories of Mariposa. For both festival veterans and first-timers, this is a year not to be missed.”

Artistic director Spencer Shewen said this year’s lineup pays tribute to past Mariposa favourites while also welcoming a new generation of folk musicians.

Returning artists include Jane Siberry, Bob Snider, Ron Sexsmith, Irish Mythen, Basia Bulat, Hayden, and The Paper Kites.

New to the festival this year are Iron & Wine, Waxahatchee, The Sheepdogs, Rock Plaza Central, Leanne Betasamosake Simpson, The Red River Ramblers, and Bess Atwell.

Shewen is especially excited for a one-time ensemble performance featuring some of the country’s top songwriters.

“On Sunday evening, Serena Ryder, who has performed at the festival on no less than six previous occasions, will be joined by Martha Wainwright, Julian Taylor, and special friends for a Mariposa retrospective performance. It’s sure to be a magical moment,” he said.

The three-day festival will feature 11 stages showcasing folk, roots, and other genres, along with storytelling, dance, and craft presentations.

All ticket categories are available now, with free admission for children 12 and under, and special pricing for youth and young adults.
