Fire breaks out at business in Bracebridge

Fire at a Bracebridge business forces an evacuation of several units.

Thick, black smoke could be seen for miles after a fire broke out at a Bracebridge business early Friday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to Mattresses of Muskoka on Monica Lane and evacuated the building, which houses several units.

Officials say Monica Lane is closed from Cedar Lane to Gray Road with no public access until further notice.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area.

It’s unclear what caused the fire or which unit it started in.

No injuries were reported. The extent of damage has not been determined.
