Fentanyl found on routine traffic stop in Orillia

Failing to insist a passenger wear a seat belt was enough for one driver to be pulled over on King Street in Orillia.

A young man was pulled over Wednesday shortly before 10:30 a.m. by Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

When the driver refused to identify himself, people arrested him and during a search of the vehicle found suspected cocaine, fentanyl and Canadian currency. Police believe the substances were to be used for the purpose of trafficking.

A 21-year-old man of no-fixed-address faces the following charges:

• Passenger fails to wear seatbelt
• Obstruct peace officer
• Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
• Possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking
• Possession of proceeds of crime
