Barrie man arrested for indecent act on school property, police say

Police say a man has been arrested after committing an indecent act outside The Good Shepherd Catholic School in Barrie.

It happened Thursday around 7:40 a.m. on Cloughley Drive, as parents were arriving with children.

Witnesses reported a man inside the school yard during drop-off time. Officers from the Barrie Police Service responded and took the suspect into custody without further incident.

“At no time did the individual come into contact with any students,” said the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board in an email to CTV News. “Children attending our daycare program were safely indoors while the situation was being addressed.”

The property was evaluated by school staff after the incident.

During the investigation, officers say the man was also found with 14 debit and credit cards not belonging to him.

The 28-year-old is facing charges of an indecent act in a public place and breach of recognizance.
