Confederation Bridge resurfacing project to start next Friday

The Confederation Bridge, linking New Brunswick and P.E.I., will close down to one lane for maintenance starting May 1.

A resurfacing project on the Confederation Bridge, which links New Brunswick and P.E.I., is set to begin next Friday.

The work will take place during daylight hours, seven days a week, beginning May 1.

The project is part of the bridge’s long-term maintenance program and is expected to continue through late June, weather permitting.

People are being asked to plan extra travel time and consider peak periods, which are typically between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

A post on the bridge’s Facebook page says one lane of traffic will be open at all times and lights and bridge control personnel will manage traffic flow.

Reduced speed limits will also be in place through the work zone.

The bridge warns delays of 30 minutes to an hour may be possible.
