Police still seeking public assistance on anniversary of Bedford man’s shooting death

Saturday is the 20th anniversary of homicide of the Danny DiBenedetto and the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the case.

Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a shooting at a home on Dartmouth Crescent in Bedford, N.S., at approximately 7:35 p.m. on Feb. 8, 2005.

Officers found 36-year-old Danny DiBenedetto suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital, where he died shortly after midnight.

Police said their investigation revealed three masked suspects entered the home and a fight took place that resulted in DiBenedetto getting shot.

One suspect is described as a black male who wore jeans, a black puffy jacket with fur around the collar and a dark ski mask.

The second suspect is described as a black male who had his hair tied back. He was wearing a grey tracksuit, grey hooded sweatshirt and dark ski mask.

The third suspect is described as a black male wearing a ski mask.

The case has been added to Nova Scotia’s Department of Justice Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program is offering up to $150,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case.

Callers must contact the rewards program, provide their name and contact information and may be called to testify in court.

The amount of the award will be based on the investigative value of the information provided.

Police said they believe there are people with information that could help solve the homicide.
