N.S. RCMP charge 55 drivers with stunting over three months

Nova Scotia RCMP charged 55 drivers with stunting from October to December 2024.

RCMP released statistics on stunting charges for the three-month period on “a number of highways across the province” in a Monday news release.

RCMP said the charges resulted from 25 incidents in October, 12 in November and 18 in December, which included:

• 182 Km/h in a 100 Km/h zone on Hwy. 105 in South Haven
• 197 Km/h while driving in Yarmouth (the newly licensed driver was drinking alcohol behind the wheel)
• 166 Km/h in a 100 Km/h zone on Hwy. 125 in Point Edward (newly licensed driver)

The fine for stunting in Nova Scotia is $2,442.50 for a first offence, six points on your licence and an immediate seven-day licence suspension.

Anyone driving a motor vehicle 50 km/h faster than the posted speed limit can be charged with stunting under the Nova Scotia Motor Vehicle Act.
