N.S. man dies following collision between car, tractor trailer in Linwood: RCMP

One person is dead and another is injured following a crash in Antigonish County, N.S., on Thursday.

A 55-year-old Nova Scotia man has died following a collision between a car and a tractor trailer in Linwood, N.S.

Antigonish County District RCMP, along with firefighters and paramedics, responded to the two-vehicle collision on Highway 104 just before 1 p.m. Thursday.

Police say responding officers learned a Chevrolet Impala, which was travelling westbound, collided head-on with a tractor trailer that was travelling eastbound.

The driver and sole occupant of the Impala, a man from Antigonish County, died at the scene.

The driver of the tractor trailer, a 59-year-old man from Baddeck, N.S., suffered minor injuries, according to a news release from RCMP.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene to assist with the ongoing investigation.

Highway 104 was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
